UPDATE: Travis McCoy and Katy Perry NOT Engaged

We reported last night that Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy and Katy Perry were posed to tie the knot. "Not true," say reps for Miss Perry. Someone should probably tell The New York Daily News, who started the rumor. Always a bridesmaid...

People/Songs/Items/Albums/Etc. I Built a Life with in 2008

Looking back on the last 12 months, there are a lot of things that have made me smile. There have been even more things that have made me giggle. However, there are only a select few things—10, to be exact—that have inspired me stop and squeal, "OMG! I totally want to build a life with that!" —Leslie Simon, Buzznet senior editor, redpatterndress

10. "The (Shipped) Gold Standard" by Fall Out Boy (off Folie A Deux)
Even though I consider myself a pretty die-hard Fall Out Boy fan, I was super skeptical when I heard that the band would be putting out an album so soon after Infinity On High. Howev, from the first notes of "The (Shipped) Gold Standard," I was quickly schooled—yet again—by Patrick Stump and the gang. I think I was totally hooked when the melody kicked in underneath the lyrics "I wanna scream I love you from the top of my lungs / But Im afraid that someone elsell hear me." If youve ever been part of a secret-lover rendez-vous, then you know why these words totally cut me to the core!

9. Cupcakes Take The Cake blog
Anyone who knows me is well-aware of my unhealthy obsession with cupcakes. I even have an internal cupcake GPS that allows me to tell you the nearest cupcake shop in a 10-mile radius to where you are. (True story!) Anywho, in order for me to keep up on the latest confection headlines, I have this blog bookmarked. How else can I be expected to know how to make my own melted snowman cupcakes?

8. Tina Fey
I kind of hope this is self-explanatory. I mean, not only does Tina Fey have mad screenwriting and acting skills, shes prolly the funniest lady on the planet. (No, really. I think they did a census and she came back as #1 Funniest Lady In The World.) Im a fan of whatever she does, whether its her American Express commercials or a blink-and-youll-miss-it voice appearance in Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters. (Hell, I even went and saw Baby Mama opening night. Thats some dedication.) Yes, its safe that I will follow Fey wherever she goes. What can I say? I want to go to there.

7. You Have No Idea What Youre Getting Yourself Into by Does It Offend You, Yeah
Any band that has a song called "Lets Make Out" is a band that I want to build a life with. Period.

6. Stuffed Mighty made by All-Mighty Clothing
Up until the time I hoofed it to L.A. from Cleveland two months ago, I lived in an apartment that didnt allow pets. That said, I was forced to get a placeholder pup until I was able to house a real one—hence my Stuffed Mighty. My friend Erika Daking makes these precious lil guys and they totally make me swoon. At the moment, hes sitting on the armchair in my living room, protecting my pad from intruders. So far, so good!

5. Persepolis (Sony Pictures Classics)
Even though this movie got good marks, I put off seeing it because I thought it was going to be a total downer—plus, subtitles can be super annoying. Howev, I once I sat down and watched the film, I instantly fell in love and completely beat myself up about waiting so long to experience it! If you can get back the subtitles (the films French) and somewhat solemn subject matter (the Iran-Iraq war in the mid-1980s), youll be uplifted by the films inspiring story of a girl who wants a life greater than the one shes given—and what bad-ass chick cant relate to that?

4. Popsicle Charm by PNUT Jewelry
Truth be told, Ive been building a life with PNUT Jewelry for the past couple years but my love for them totally blossomed in 08 with the introduction of their tasty treats charm collection. Personally, I own a winged cupcake necklace (shocker!), another cupcake ring and this amazing popsicle bling. Now the only thing thats missing is the ice cream scoop pendant. (Nod, nod, wink, wink.)

3. "With Every Heartbeat [With Kleerup]" by Robyn (off Robyn)
This might be the most depressing song with the most upbeat melody Ive ever heard. I was lucky enough to see Robyn perform in New York City at the Grand Ballroom earlier this year with my friend T. Cole Rachel and I tossed  my heels off about 2.5 seconds after I got into the club so I could properly shake a tailfeather—without falling over, of course. (Tres important.)

2. Spoon Rest by Wide World Of Fred
Its a spoon rest that looks like a pillow, so when youre done stirring your soup, your ladle can take a cat nap. Im sorry, but this sh*t is effing cute. Kind of gives a new meaning to "food coma." (Ba-dum-bum... Ill be here all night, folks. Try the veal.)

1. Rob Dyrdek
Asking me to explain my love for Rob Dyrdek would be like asking Brody Jenner to explain why hes famous. Its pointless. This lil nugget of a man is so not the type of dude I usually want to build a life with, but I inexplicably love his guts. I heart him so bad that it doesnt matter that hes short, he wears a fitted everywhere he goes, lives with a roommate despite the fact that hes in his mid-thirties, and, if you look really closely, his face resembles that of a rat. (No, really. Its true.) No matter because Im totally willing to overlook all that stuff in order to kick-start our life-building. After all, Im sure meaty and the mini-horse need a female role model and I think Im the right gal for the job.

First he's an actor... Then he's a musician... Now he's a girlfriend-stealer. Wait, what?
